A reflection on my integration of various sources throughout the semester
The way I used evidence in this paper was extremely important in the “Big Data” essay. Not only was I given sources that were mandatory to use, but I found sources to use by myself to enhance my writing. In this essay, I mainly used in text citations and paraphrasing to support the claims that were stated in my essay. One such example that I am proud to showcase is from my “Big Data” project, in which I quoted an article that included an interview from the then head of the then Director of National Intelligence. In this article, I said “In 2013, ‘cyber’ bumped ‘terrorism’ out of the top spot on our list of national threats […] and cyber has led our report every year since then” (Clapper, ctd in Marshall 823). In this section of my paper, I not only integrated the work from the author of a library database article into my work, but I was successfully able to integrate a quote within a quote, with proper MLA formatting. This is something I feel I would not have been able to do at the start of this semester, and yet was able to pull off masterfully, and plan to continue to do so in the future.
